Dear Forge Members and Friends,
I’d like to take a few moments and update you all on the resolution of our ongoing “new” theater plans. After a lengthy series of negotiations, Forge Theatre and the prospective buyers have agreed to part ways. In short terms, that means that Forge Theatre will remain, at least in the near term, right here on First Avenue.
Earlier this season, we thought that our January production of Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” would be held in our projected Port Providence location. Since that won’t be coming to pass, we are announcing that “Our Town” will be produced here at our First Avenue location. Director Deb Braak, Producer Marnie Herzfeld, and the cast have shown great flexibility in preparing for either option and the Board of Directors thanks them.
I can also say, in all probability, the rest of this of this season will be right here also.
All of this doesn’t mean that we will stop the search for a new location. There were several good reasons why a move to a newer, more modern, more spacious location made sense, and we, as a Board, will continue to actively check out possible new spaces. We also will be announcing fundraising plans soon to put us in an even better position to consider all options. We remain extraordinarily pleased and optimistic about the remainder of this season and our exciting future seasons.
Thank you so much for all of your continuing support and we hope you enjoy “L’il Abner”!
Regards,
Jim Kelsh, President
Forge Theatre Board of Directors
